Moving in Bulgaria: how to transport your things along the coast and between towns
Moving into a new apartment, had furniture delivered, or need to shift things between coastal towns? Here's how it works in Bulgaria and how not to overpay.
What "transport & moving" covers
- Home and office moves β belongings, furniture, appliances.
- Delivery of furniture or appliances you bought from a shop.
- Loaders β loading, unloading, carrying up to your floor.
- Small transport β a couple of large items, junk removal.
- Intercity β between Burgas, Nessebar, Sunny Beach, Sveti Vlas, and on to Sofia and Varna.
What the price depends on
The provider confirms the exact amount after the details, but it comes down to:
- Cargo volume β it decides the vehicle: a car with a trailer, a van or a truck.
- Loaders β transport only is cheaper; loading and carrying up floors adds time.
- Floor and lift β carrying to the 5th floor with no lift takes noticeably longer.
- Distance β within town or intercity.
Choosing the vehicle
Don't order a truck for a few boxes, or the other way round. Describe your list of items or the dimensions and the provider will suggest the right vehicle so you don't pay for space you don't need.
What to put in the request
Describe the belongings as fully as you can, or list the large pieces β wardrobe, sofa, fridge, washing machine; the vehicle and the number of movers follow from that. Give the floor and whether there is a lift β at both the old and the new address. Check whether a van can stop near the entrance: in the resort complexes access is often limited by the pedestrian alleys. If needed, say that furniture has to be taken apart and reassembled at the new place, so it is in the price from the start. And pack the small things in boxes beforehand: the move is faster, and therefore cheaper.
What is different on the coast
Each of the three resorts has limits worth knowing before you book, and they all come down to access. In the Sunny Beach complexes and Nessebar's Old Town a van often cannot reach the entrance, so part of the way is carried by hand β in Sunny Beach in summer, moves start early in the morning; in Sveti Vlas, steep lanes and entrances without a lift call for more people. So give the exact address, the floor and where the van can load β the movers then plan the people and the vehicle in the quote itself. Common questions
How much do movers and transport cost for a move? The price depends on the volume, the floor, the lift and the distance. Providers send a quote with a price once they have read the description β you compare and choose, with no prepayment.
Is a van provided for the move? Many providers work with a van or a lorry. Say in the request that transport is needed and give the addresses β you get one price for the carrying and the transport together.
How soon can a move happen? Often the same day, especially with a smaller load. Mark the request as urgent and give the time that suits you.
Do the movers take furniture apart? Yes, when needed the movers dismantle wardrobes and beds and reassemble them at the new place. Say so in the request so it is included in the price.
