The Bulgarian coast is a popular place to get married: the sea, Old Nessebar for photos, the marina in Sveti Vlas, restaurants overlooking the bay. Yet many couples live in other countries and plan everything from afar. Here's how that works and what to decide first.

Symbolic ceremony or legal marriage

Many couples marry legally at home and hold the celebration by the sea.
When and how to prepare
The wedding season on the coast runs from late May to September. Summer weekends fill up early, so book the venue and suppliers several months ahead. July and August are hot β a ceremony towards the evening is more comfortable.
